Roll On Me   (written 1/98)

The seven of us ventured on a highway of fire

Longing for nightfall and a cool desire

The red sun was burning so clear in the sky

And the heat was so blinding

My eyes were so dry

The lakes were all warm and the sidewalk burned

There was someone behind me everywhere that I turn

Waiting for darkness in the center of hell

Let the heavens fly over and cast their own spell

Looking out my window, I watch the world go by

Look ahead and see the dark stormy sky

Up ahead in the distance and the rain is falling down

And the desert is silent except for a windy sound

Let the desert storm roll, roll on me

I saw the sun set across the desert plains

And I captured the rainbow I stole from the rain

The cold air turned slowly back to dust

And the cold sprays of water is all I can trust

The blue moon was rising so high up in the sky

The cycle forced the sun to say goodbye

I truly did not know what I came here to find

But I know now that life is fine on the inside

500 miles more to drive tonight

but the air is cool now and the stars are bright

I am feeling one now with the earth and sky

Never knew the desert offered so much life

With a desert storm

Roll, roll, roll on me
